University of Kansas, Lawrence, June 17-28, 2019

All participants must arrive on June 16, 2019. Check-in will be at your KU housing, Downs Hall, located at 1517 W. 18th Street, Lawrence, KS (phone: 785-864-9050). Downs Hall is located between 18th and 19th Streets, just west of Naismith Drive. Access and parking to the hall is off of 18th and Naismith. Room assignments will be made by workshop organizers. Participants will reside in two- or four-person, single-gender suites.

More detailed information about your housing and services can be found in the WELCOME TO 2019 GRADUATE RESEARCH WORKSHOP IN COMBINATORICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS! This document will be emailed to you.

Participants will be provided with an access card to be used with KU’s computerized system.  Workshop access cards are encoded with the dining plan and do not work past the date of the conference.  Cards also are encoded with the hall in which the guest will be residing and that hall’s dining center (Ekdahl Dining Commons, known as "Mrs. E’s").  Only those carrying a valid conference access card or those paying cash are allowed in the dining room during service hours.

Your meal card entitles you to lunch and dinner Monday-Friday at Mrs. E’s.  The dining hall is open until 7:00 pm.  You are on your own for the weekend; Mrs. E's is open (11:00 am - 7:00 pm Sat/Sun) and you may pay cash for brunch and dinner.  There are also many good options downtown on Massachusetts street, 23rd Street, and Iowa Street. (Restaurant Guide)

  • For breakfast, workshop organizers will provide pastries, fruit and coffee on the second level of the LEEP2 building, outside of the classrooms where everyone will gather for morning announcements. There are a couple of places on campus between Downs Hall and the LEEP2 building where you can purchase coffee and other snacks:  DeBruce Center Roasterie and Burge Roasterie.
  • For lunch and dinner (Monday-Friday), the dining card allows unlimited eating at Mrs. E’s Dining Center (1530 Engel Road, adjacent to Lewis Hall), a 10 minute walk from LEEP2.    You will scan the card each time you enter Mrs. E’s.  If you run out of meals for the day or week, you may pay with cash or credit card.
  • For Saturday-Sunday, June 22-23, participants are on their own.  Mrs. E’s is open for brunch ($10.50) and dinner ($11.25). On 23rd Street, four blocks from Downs, there are several dining options and several restaurants that deliver.

Let us know in advance if you have any special dining needs.
